While attending the national SHRM Conference in Las Vegas, I had the opportunity to hear Duke’s Coach Mike Krzyzewski as the opening keynote. Even the Wildcat fans among you would have quickly understood how and why he has become so successful. He instills and gives respect and high value to everyone he comes in contact with, from the custodian and towel boy to the superstar players; and he demands they all treat each other with that same regard. If all of us did the same every day, our workplaces would be incredible.
Each session I attended brought increased knowledge and value to me, value that will continue to enhance my career. After 29 years with the same employer, a few months ago I changed my path and accepted the EVP/HR Director position for Central Bank in Lexington. This change has granted me a new perspective on all that I do. Starting new gives us a chance to reflect. While attending sessions I even learned with new perspective.
We all have another great opportunity to increase our value proposition at the upcoming KYSHRM State Conference. Come join us, attend the sessions and learn with new perspective. Be a part of things and connect with your peers. I hope to see you there!
