A Letter from the Chair

Written by Scott McGarvey

"We serve many professionals with an HR title, but also many others who wear multiple hats for their employer and have a need to educate themselves on human resource topics and trends. We want everyone to know we serve all individuals, no matter how much of their day is spent on human resources."

KYSHRM’s mission is to serve the HR professional in Kentucky. It is with this mission in mind that we have made structural changes to better pool resources with the Kentucky Chamber, who manages our two largest events, the Best Places to Work program and the Kentucky SHRM Conference. A new relationship has been established with the Chamber to provide for a KYSHRM executive director who will be available as a full-time resource to the Council and SHRM chapters in Kentucky.

Please allow me to introduce Katie Adams as the new executive director for the KYSHRM State Council. Katie’s HR experience will serve her well in managing the day-to-day operations of the Council, while also keeping the perspective of the HR professional. It is with much excitement that KYSHRM takes this next step to better support, not only our objectives, but the objectives of the 13 chapters throughout our state.

As part of our mission to serve the HR professional, KYSHRM hosts the annual Kentucky SHRM Conference, August 28-30 at the Omni Louisville Hotel in Louisville, Ky. We are hopeful that this event will be bigger than ever and full of content that is relevant to you. We realize we serve many professionals with an HR title, but also many others who wear multiple hats for their employer and have a need to educate themselves on human resource topics and trends. We want everyone to know we serve all individuals, no matter how much of their day is spent on human resources.

We hope to see you at our conference!
