2016 Leadership Conference Recap

Written by

2016 has come and gone and along with it another great KYSHRM Leadership Conference! The conference, held December 8 and 9 at the beautiful Marriott in Covington, KY, had one of the largest attendances ever. HR professionals from 13 chapters throughout the Commonwealth gathered to learn, share best practices, and participate in fellowship. This year’s agenda included the introduction of the statewide rollout “Bridging the Talent Gap (BTTG),” and there was tremendous excitement around this initiative. Strong leadership and vision from State Council Chair Lynn Ingmire, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Workforce Readiness chairs Cathy Koop, SPHR, SHRM-SCP and Sherry Powers, PHR, SHRM-CP, District Director and DTTG Champion Beth Davisson, and many others have moved this project from an idea to a huge opportunity for HR in Kentucky to connect with businesses, state government, and educators.

SHRM Field Services Director Shelly Trent, SHRM-SCP, provided a Thursday afternoon update from SHRM and a volunteer session, which served as training for new volunteers and a refresher for veteran leaders. Donna Chrobot-Mason, Ph.D., led our Friday morning keynote session titled “Leadership Across Boundaries,” which focused on how group challenges are interdependent and can only be solved by working collaboratively.

As we move into 2017, a new leadership conference committee will be formed and we will start the work of planning this year’s conference. Stay tuned for confirmed dates and location!
