Breaking News – KYSHRM is a Finalist for the SHRM Pinnacle Award

Written by

I am very excited to report that our KYSHRM State Council is a finalist for the SHRM Pinnacle Award for our statewide initiative "Bridging the Talent Gap-Kentucky." The Pinnacle Award is an annual  recognition program sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) honoring the highest achievements in chapter and state council development and contributions that serve HR professionals, advance the HR profession and enhance the SHRM community. Being a finalist from all programs submitted across the country is a fine tribute to the hard work of all our KYSHRM State Council and chapter members across the state. I commend each one of the them for their support and dedication above and beyond.  The number of survey results was above any of our expectations and it was their diligence that brought that to fruition.

Our initiative was a collaborative effort  of several key HR professionals who formed a committee to coordinate the efforts with the KYSHRM State Council, the SHRM Chapters from across the state and The Graduate Network. The committee consisted of two co-Directors of Workforce from the State Council, Cathy Koop and Sherry Powers, our Council Management Professional, Shannon Byrne, Regional District Directors - Beth Davisson, Rusty Steel, Mary Spadaro and Randy Fox, along with Lyle Hannah, one of our KYSHRM Advisors, who was instrumental in making the connections so critical to the success of the project.  As many of you know, our initiative Bridging the Talent Gap-Kentucky had the support of Governor Bevin and Secretary of Education and Workforce, Hal Heiner.  Through the information gathered by our partner The Graduate Network, employers in Kentucky were able to provide detailed information on their workforce needs now and those projected for the future.  To view the results of the survey in a user-friendly dashboard format, go to www.bridgingthetalentgap.org.

The winner in the State Council division will be announced during the SHRM Volunteer Leader Summit in Washington DC on Friday, November 17.  No matter what the results, Bridging the Talent Gap-Kentucky and all involved in this initiative are to be celebrated.  My heartfelt thanks to each and every one of them.
